Game Day Sliders
So, this post made WAY more sense… in February. When I whipped them up for the Super Bowl. No seriously. That’s how long ago I made these. They were a copy cat of the sliders I had in Colorado Springs they have caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, hot BBQ sauce for dipping, and jalapenos.
Now, I wish I could tell you to pull out the grill and fry ‘em up… but, the weather doesn’t seem to be cooperating with the calendar. Breaking News: Mother Nature and I are no longer friends. On the bright side, I’m in prep mode for vacation – downloading music and books and making sure all the laundry is done.
The girls and I leave for Nashville on Friday and I can’t wait for the warm(er) weather and the excitement that comes with racing even though I’m not able to run it. There will be instagram updates galore this weekend – you’ve been warned! I hope to finish the book I’m currently reading and loving, sleep past 6am and listen to some awesome music.
Game Day Sliders
Yield: 4-6 servings
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 white onion
4 slices of bacon
slices of cheddar cheese
Chop your onion into small pieces and place in a frying pan with one teaspoon of olive oil and a pinch of salt. Cook on medium low heat for around 30 minutes until caramelized and purple in color. Set aside.
In another frying pan, fry your bacon and set aside.
With your hands and a large bowl, mix your ground beef, onion powder and garlic powder together and form slider size patties. Fry in a frying pan with about a tablespoon of butter. Fry for about 3 minutes on each side.
Pile your buns high with your patties, cheese, caramelized onions, and jalapenos. Serve with a side of warm BBQ sauce.
